Someone Like You Hit Maker, Adele, is Pregnant

If there is news about divorce (Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise), there is also some positive news that popped up this day. The genius behind the hit tune, Someone Like You, Adele, has announced her pregnancy. Now that's what you call positive =)

As I read the article, "Adele 'over the moon' at pregnancy news", I was actually more surprised to learn that the pop singer is only 24. It's not that she doesn't look like it, but more of, she doesn't sound like it. Her songs sound like those were written and sung by someone who is quite mature and had gone through a lot.

Cheers to you, Adele! We're now awaiting to hear very touching songs about motherhood (like waking up in the middle of the night to change diapers and feed the baby, or dressing up your tot like the very cutie Suri =).

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Headed to Splitsville

Uh-oh, another Hollywood divorce in the works. Admit it, we've all been waiting for this since the day that Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah's couch to declare his love for Katie Holmes. Yeah, TomKat may have proven that in love, height doesn't matter, erm, I mean age doesn't matter, but now that they are also heading to Splitsville, we definitely need to update our definition of love.

They have the cutest daughter anyways, so at least, something good has happened with their 5-year romance. Now everybody's tuned in on who will be added next to Hollywood's list of broken and failed relationships.

GANDANG GABI VICE on May 20 - Hilarious and Kilig Episode with KimXi

Aside from Kim Chiu and Xian Lim, it would be exciting to watch Dawn Zulueta dropping off her "sosyal" image and let it all out for fun at this episode of GGV. Let us all watch this, peeps. This is going to be super fun!

EDIT: May 21, 2012

Ansaveh ng editing? We did not get to see the funniest and most kilig parts, local peeps, but those who have TFC Uncut subscription did (after paying a fee, of course). Ibang magmahal ang Kapamilya, negosyo ang peg? =)

Anyway, if you really want to watch the uncut version, you can search it on popular social networking sites. I don't want to post the links here, fearing that ABS-CBN might have those deleted (because we did not pay?) Even Kim Chiu was not happy with the way it turned out. Imagine the full schedule they had that day and even though they were both tired, they still guested on the show to give in to the clamor of their fans. These were Kim's reactions that she posted on her Instagram account:

I still enjoyed the show though. Vice is a good comedian and the episode showed the other side of Ms. Dawn Zulueta. 'Hope that Vice could also guest Ai-Ai delas Alas in the future. For sure, now that they are in good terms already, it would not be far before they get to be paired in a movie or TV project.

The Moms behind the Albie vs Andi Brouhaha

It is Mother’s Day, and the headlines at the local showbiz industry (nope, not the Tulfo vs Claudine and a little bit of Raymart), are mostly about the moms of the kids who have recently gotten themselves into trouble (that only their moms could help in clearing their names?).

It has been all over the news for more than a week now. To sum it up (from a couch potato’s point of view), Andi Eigenmann left her baby at home (to the care of her mom perhaps?) to hang out with friends in a bar, just like the good old days when she was not still a mom herself. Albie Casino, the rumored father of Andi’s child, who is constantly seen at many people’s FB statuses for being almost everywhere (from bars, to beaches to private homes, doing wacky and sometimes naughty poses with his friends), happened to be in the same bar as Andi’s.

The two are not in good terms and they haven’t been since Albie learned about Andi’s pregnancy. They met in the bar. Andi did ala Cherry Gil and threw wine on Albie’s face, slapped him and said some nasty words. Andi was insulted with Albie’s facial expression. She felt as if he was insulting her all the more.

Now what kind of facial expression can you do when you have wine on your face? Let’s all look in the mirror and pretend that someone threw wine on our faces. Yep, it really looked insulting hehe!

To cut the story short, Albie was beaten up by Andi’s companions on his way out. While being beaten, he was maybe thinking of what would happen next to the story so he made sure that he recognized a face or two from the kiddos who were hurting him, in revenge to what he did to Andi. One of the faces that he was able to remember was that of the late Francis Magalona’s son, Frank.

Andi saw what happened. She ran up to him and said something like, “Don’t show your face to any of my friends ever again. Hindi mo sila kaya.” Oh yeah, I forgot, she also asked the badly bruised and beaten up Albie if he was okay.

Done with the summary. I did not take this seriously because this is very childish. This could not have happened if Andi became more mature after she has given birth. What was she doing staying up quite late when she already has a baby? Okay, maybe she just wants to enjoy her youth, but God, you must be more responsible by now.

Albie, on the other hand, should have learned his lessons from the mistakes he did in the past. He had a promising career and he just wasted the trust that ABS-CBN has given him by not only screwing up his own life, but screwing up a fast-rising TV gem at that time, who is Andi.

Now that everything has already been said about the issue, there are three faces that we keep on seeing on various media platforms, and none of them were involved in the brawl – Rina Casino, Jaclyn Jose and Pia Magalona.

Rina is Albie’s mom. Her take - “I cannot understand why would these guys beat up my son. ‘Di ko alam kung bakit, inagrabyado ba sila ni Albie? Wala namang ginagawang masama ang anak ko, nananahimik na. My son is trying to move on.”

Jaclyn, Andi’s mom, in defense of herself and her daughter – “N’ung nabuntis nga ni pitik ‘di ko nagawa. Pinalaki ko ang mga anak ko ng walang palo at mahusay na pakikipagusap lang…. At lalong ’di ko pinalaking sinungaling ang mga anak ko.”

Pia, Frank Magalona’s mom, also came to his defense – This is from PEP Alerts posted on May 9. “Ayon kay Pia Magalona, totoong naroon si Frank Magalona sa Fiamma Bar nang maganap ang pambubugbog umano kay Albie Casino ngunit hindi raw kasama ang anak sa mga umatake sa young actor.”

This story is no longer about these showbiz kids who have gotten themselves into an ugly limelight. This proves that mothers will do everything to defend their children no matter what it takes.

I can only imagine the tears that these moms have cried for the problems that their children are now facing. They may look tough in front of the camera or they may say things and accusations just to defend their own blood, but deep inside, these three are very much hurting for what their children have become or have gotten themselves into.

Albie, Andi and Frank, and other youth like these three, should all learn vital lessons from this story. We must all appreciate our moms because we know that we can depend on them even in worst cases. In return, we should not get into any kind of situations that will force our moms to speak up for us. They will, for sure, but just imagine the pains that they may be going through for the actions and things that they did not have anything to do with in the first place.

Happy mother’s day to these three, Rina, Jaclyn and Pia. Maybe Claudine Baretto could learn something from this as well, as a mom and as a daughter =)

My Wild Guesses in the World of Local Celebrities and Sightings

These are only my hunches and “kutob” with the current issues that I keep on reading about certain celebrities and recent showbiz happenings.

** Break na si Cristine Reyes and Rayver Cruz. Cristine, oh dear, you better shape up or you will regret being such a prima donna when the glam is over, the beauty has faded and you have no one left but yourself.

** The new show of Ms. Sharon Cuneta on TV-5 will fail to succeed. The concept is old and now that the Megastar is part of a new station, many people, this blogger included, want to see reinvention.

** The Coco Martin-Angeline Quinto movie will flop, as well as the Coco-Judy Ann Santos and Coco-Marian Rivera. Coco may be cute and he is lucky to have TV shows that rated quite well on TV. But does he have enough fans that are willing to pay to see him on the big screen? I want to be proven wrong.

** It’s Showtime will be axed soon. From the time that Vice Ganda dropped Ogie Diaz as his manager, many people have realized that fame has indeed gone on his head. Most people watch Showtime just because of the fun that Vice is able to provide. The show is lame without him. But with negative intrigues thrown his way, how long could he keep his composure to make his audience laugh still?

** SIR or Showbiz Inside Report, the showbiz oriented talk show (na nagpapaka-investigative journalism) hosted by Carmina Villaroel, Janice de Belen, Joey Marquez and Ogie Diaz, will also be axed soon. Ogie Diaz may be an effective comedian, but he is no longer a credible showbiz talk show host. He doesn't do his research and say his opinions about anything based on popular beliefs. As for Carmina and Janice, they are good in hosting talk show of different variety, but with pending issues still hounding their showbiz careers, they are not fit to be seen on shows like this. Joey Marquez, well, this is not his forte. This is one boring show na nagpapaka-intelehente, but fails miserably.

** In the reunion movie of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz with working title, The Mistress, si John Lloyd ang kabit and si Bea ang nangangaliwa. Star Cinema is very fond of twisting the twist, like what happened to My Amnesia Girl na si John Lloyd pala ang may amnesia. The theme, by the way, if it will really focus on infidelity, is still “gasgas” at this point, after the success of No Other Woman.

** Lorna Tolentino may have realized now that money is not everything in showbiz. You have to take care of your staying power, hence it is a wrong move that she moved to TV-5 and did various series that look cheap, when she has always been given great roles when she was still at ABS-CBN. Look at what happened to Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez now. Even Helen Gamboa is now more recognizable than the Megastar, whose career is also suffering like what is happening with LT and will soon happen to Derek Ramsey.

My Local Celebrity Pairing Bets for 2012

Obviously, I am a Kim Chiu-Whoever her partner is fan. It only goes that I favor Xian Lim at the moment because they haven’t done solo TV drama and movie yet. After Xian, I hope that Kim gets paired with someone who is older and more mature, like Piolo Pascual. I want to see the contrast and for a change, see a film that tackles age gap in relationships from a different light.

Xian will also look good when paired with older leading ladies, like Judy Ann Santos or Claudine Barretto, if the latter will decide to come back at ABS-CBN or if ABS-CBN would accept her still. If ever Sandara Park would do a movie with Star Cinema, I think that Xian will also create an on-screen stir as her partner.

As per Gerald Anderson, it is only now that I am realizing that it will be quite promising to see him on screen with Bea Alonzo, but I don’t think that this is the right time for this team-up. There are many fans who still haven’t moved on from the controversies that these two have created when they fell for each other at the wrong place and at the wrong time (sounds like a movie premise already). For the meantime, I hope that he gets paired with KC Concepcion. I think that the pairing has the ability to prove that KC is only waiting for the right material and right partner to prove her bankability.

Bea Alonzo, although she’s not visible on TV, is doing a film, but as months go by, it appears as if this film is doomed (hopefully not). I wonder how an artist feels every time they had to re-shoot scenes that they have already done just because their partner had chosen to pursue their Hollywood dream and the replacement had chosen to move to another network. They can break the curse by bringing John Lloyd Cruz in. He is Bea’s reliable partner and the pairing has a huge following.

This is not a new pairing, but the Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla team-up should be given a movie while it is still hot. And oh please, don’t let Kathryn wear her hair with bangs, like how she looks at the soap, Princess and I. She’s more beautiful with how she looked during her Mara Clara days, but her beauty really shone when she played the young Gretchen in Magkaribal.

It is tricky to find the right pair for Julia Montes. I really thought that she would not be able to pull it off with Coco Martin, but she did, with flying colors. I think that she really is the next Bea Alonzo. For these women, great acting, plus good looks are enough even though they don’t have constant partners.

There are two big Kapamilya stars who badly need reinvention, Vice Ganda and Sarah Geronimo. Vice has already proven that he can create blockbuster movies even without the help of other big stars. I wonder how it would look if the idea of pairing Angel Locsin with the man version of Vice Ganda would push through. I don’t think so. A good gay film will do, but no more slapsticks comedy, please.

I want to see a different Sarah Geronimo. Sarah who is acting her age and is experiencing real life and love troubles of women in their mid 20s. Just for a change, I want to see her serious side, yung pang award. It does not matter who her leading man is. Her movies, for as long as these are of good taste and quality, will earn whether she has a big star or a newcomer as a partner.

What about the stars from the other network? I think that at the moment, while GMA-7 has not yet found the formula to develop “big” stars, big in the sense that the viewing public will pay to see them on the big screen and not be contented being part of the percentage of the TV ratings, GMA Films should go back to their old formula. They ought to bring back quality films to the mainstream market. They have specialized on the genre before, giving people the likes of Muro Ami, Deathrow, Jose Rizal and so on.

That’s it. Just sharing some musings while I am working on certain articles that are harder to finish than this kind =)

P.S.

I love the current ad (as of this writing) on my blog's upper banner, kilig!
